"The splendid return to form of the once mighty continues. Warms the heart, it does. Tim Kirk (of Clonakilla) tells me (via Twitter) this won a a trophy for best wine at the recent 2010 Limestone Coast show. Seemed to intimate I was being a miser with a 95 point score, so I added the plus for him. Sheesh.
Plenty going on here and it evolved and gained further dimension over a three day period. It’s rich and chocolaty with blackcurrant, mixed berries, liquorice/aniseed and nutty nougat American oak. Full bodied with abundant plush sweet fruit, a nutty texture and flavour, silky tannins and particularly impressive line and length. There’s a lot of everything here, but not too much of anything either. Toothsome and satisfying – I have a feeling it’s going to cellar as long as you want to keep it. A classic Australian wine."
