This wine is drinking beautifully at the moment. The bouquet was enticing. Still lots of black stone fruits but overlayed with truffles, earth and woodsy notes. The wine was full bodied but not heavy, and had almost a slight touch of sweetness on the palate, which served to round out the still elegant and well defined fruit characters.A great accompaniment to a grilled eye fillet with creamed spinach and salad.

Penfolds Grange Shiraz 1975

Drinking beautifully now, but could last another ten years!

The 1975 Grange was highlight of a very special dinner on Saturday night. Everyone remarked on the magnificent 'signature' Grange nose. Wonderful aromas of dark stone fruits, spice and tobacco. The palate didn't disappoint. Still lots of fruit and the tannins haven't softened nicely. A few of our guests thought it could last another ten years easily!

Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Malbec Merlot 1994

I really like the Alkoomi Blackbutt Cabernet Malbec Merlot 1994. You can still taste the fruit but the finish is very smooth with the tannins fully resolved.
