Classic McLaren La Testa Blend Shiraz Grenache Cabernet 2001

Big, sweet, rich, astringent.

Reviewed by Figjam - Wednesday 4 May 2011 09:27 AM

Sweet, rich with fine grains tempered with slightly over ripe with dusty dehydrated fruit and notes of graphite or even bitumen. 15% Alcohol is warmish without being overtly hot.

Nice ripe concentrated fruit, but too much heat

Subdued blackberry jam aromas, alcohol also evident. Concentrated dark fruit, chocolate and pepper on the palate, nice fine tannins. Up to that point, a pretty good drop. Unfortunately, for my taste, too much alcohol heat is prominent on the finish, and lingers for minutes.
