Notes:

This calculator is designed to compare storage, handling and account fees only. It assumes an insured value of $50/bottle.

Storage:

  • Cellarit charges per dozen 750ml bottles not by the box. Cellarit fees include removing bottles from different boxes to create "mixed-dozens". Your storage and insurance fees will fall whenever you remove bottles regardless of the number of partially filled boxes left behind.
  • Other wine storage providers charge by the box so your storage fees will not fall unless your boxes leave storage. However, they may make an effort to consolidate 6-packs, loose bottles, etc. so we've lowered the typical mix of 6-packs from 20% of wine boxes down to 10% accordingly.
  • Other wine storage providers charge the full amount on each "tranche" of their sliding scale before applying lower rates. For example, assume a fee structure of $3 for the first 50 cases, $2 for the next 50 and $1 for additional cases. For 150 cases that's ((3x50)+(2x50)+(1x50))=$300. Cellarit applies the lowest qualifying rate to all of the cases, e.g. 150x1=$150 for 150 cases.
  • Other wine storage providers may offer lower wine storage prices if a Membership Fee is paid. This calculator reflects an annual membership fee of $95 only if it results in lower total storage costs.

Handling:

  • Cellarit's unique Loyalty Program rewards storage customers with "handling/transport" credits each month for a total of 25% of cases per annum.
  • For example, a customer with 100 cases in storage earns just over 2 credits each month (25 credits each year) and each credit "pays" for handling out 1 case or is worth $6 towards delivery and transit insurance.
  • This calculator allows negative handling-out fees to reflect the value storage customers can use towards pickups or deliveries into or out of wine storage.

Insurance:

  • Insurance arrangements vary and this calculator assumes an insurance rate of $0.36/box/mo.
  • Other wine storage provider prices are shown net of insurance by subtracting $0.36/box from their all-inclusive published price.
  • Cellarit insurance is $0.60 per $1,000 of value per month (0.9% p.a.). A rate of $0.36/dozen equates to an insured value $50 per
