87 Points Robert Parker

The 1994 Shiraz Eileen Hardy, which represents the winery's finest Shiraz cuvees, exhibits a murky, saturated dark plum color, as well as distinctive earth, American oak, and blackberry liqueur-like aromas, and unctuously-textured, thick, full-bodied, uncomplex but rich, chewy, long flavors. Moderate tannin is present in this wine, which appears to have been boosted by an addition of tartaric/citric acidity. Chunky, mouthfilling, and rustic, it should drink well for a decade. Importer: BRL Hardy, USA, Inc., Chantilly, VA; tel. (703) 968-0067

89 Points James Halliday

Strong purple-red; an almost riotous array of intensely fragrant black cherry, licorice, plum and spice fruit aromas lead on to a palate which is absolutely crammed with more of the same licorice/black cherry/boot polish fruit flavours, the very essence of shiraz. Drink to 2014.
