85 Points Robert Parker
Revealing considerable amber and rust at the edge, the 1978 Beychevelle offers an earthy, peppery, herbaceous bouquet with the fruit pushed to the background. Solidly built and made in a corpulent style, this wine is monolithic and simple, without a great deal of personality or depth. Drink this straightforward wine before the end of this decade. Last tasted, 6/93.
