93 Points Robert Parker
The 2006 Block 14 Syrah uses less new oak at 42% and is adorned with a well-defined, minerally nose with hints of plum and white pepper, the palate more approachable than “Le Sol” with a certain elegance and a charming plum and boysenberry finish echoing its more famous stable mate. Le Sol has rapidly become one of New Zealand’s most esteemed wines, 100% Syrah grown on the Gimblett Gravels, using 5% stems and matured for 18 months in French oak, 52% new.
