91.5 Points Robert Parker
The outstanding, deep ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Speciale is produced from 80-year-old Grenache (which is not destemmed) grown in the Coudoulet sector adjacent to Beaucastel. This traditionally made wine, aged in old foudres, displays incredible density, powerful kirsch and raspberry scents interwoven with notions of sandy, loamy soil, pepper, and licorice. Sensational depth, concentration, and body are found in over-achieving Cotes du Rhone. It should drink well for 7-10 years.
