93 Points Robert Parker
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Mataro has pronounced spiced blackberry preserves, dried plums, mocha, cinnamon stick, pepper and licorice notes with an earthy whiff of tar. Medium-bodied with a good generosity of flesh that is well-supported by medium to firm, grainy tannins, it offers a deliciously fresh take on this variety, with a finish that is satisfyingly long and spicy. Drink it now to 2024+.
