Ranked #46 of 104 2005 Shiraz from Barossa Valley

Huon Hooke
Medium dark red purple. Good clean nose, fresh and vital. Layers of cedary oak and bold plummy ripe fruit, with a slight rawness. Licorice and jam. Almost essency/syrupy, boiled-down concentration, but not very charming. Not very vinous either. Big - with a firm grip to close.

94 Points James Halliday
The colour is deep, but with an even better hue than the Barossa Valley Shiraz; intense and highly focused blackberry, mocha, chocolate and licorice flavours carry the alcohol with ease; flow through to a long finish. Drink to 2025.
