94 Points Robert Parker
The 2008 Andelmonde Shiraz is another story. Only 102 cases were produced this year because Standish just used the one parcel that he’d brought in before the heat-wave…and it shows in the wine. Aged 24 months in 100% new French puncheons, the color is deep purple-black. It possesses intensely floral scents of roses and violets with some smoked meat over black cherry preserves and damp loam. Crsip, rich and full with very firm fine tannins, this wine has the layers of flavors and fineness that are characteristic of Standish’s wines. It finishes long and savory. Give it another 12-18 months in bottle and drink it 2012 to 2020.
