Grosset
Grosset Wines is an independently owned winery set in the Clare Valley producing just six highly regarded premium wines each vintage. Established in 1981 by Jeffrey Grosset in the historic township of Auburn in the southern tip of the Clare Valley, the winery is stylish but functional and reflects the attention to detail that extends to the Grosset estate-owned Clare Valley vineyards and to the winemaking.
Jeffrey Grosset's immensely disciplined approach to winemaking involves meticulous attention at every stage, from the choice of the very earth itself, as in his selection of the famous windswept site for the Gaia, to the fine tuning during pressing and fermentation.
Grosset's embrace of new technology - he led the way in promoting screw-cap closures for bottles - has not compromised his hands-on and traditional approach to viticulture and wine making. Hand picking prevails exclusively in both his Clare Valley and Adelaide Hills vineyards.
This talented winemaker has won many accolades including the Inaugural 1998 Volvo/ Wine Magazine Australian Winemaker of the Year and the International Riesling Winemaker of the Year at the Riesling Summit II, Hamburg, 1998. In 2005 the US publication Wine and Spirits named Grosset as one of the fifty most influential winemakers in the world. Source: Grosset Wines
