Huon Hooke
Deep yellow, almost golden colour. The bouquet is shy and retiring, the palate very developed and it seems to have gone backwards in terms of complexity. There are paraffin wax and almost kerosene-like nuances, the palate full and broad, round and dry, with savouriness and generosity but not great detail. It showed maderisation after a while in the glass.

The spectacular 2000 Riesling Polish Hill''s sausage, honeyed lemon grass, and mineral aromas are presented in a dry, medium-bodied style with laser-like clarity. Ripe, elegant, and long, it is one of the finest New World Rieslings money can buy. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.

Light to medium yellow-green; the bouquet is quite rich, with more overt fruit than the wine often displays when young; the palate, likewise, is powerful, with considerable depth and length, the aftertaste full of authority, yet not aggressive. Drink to 2011.
