Huon Hooke
Deepish brick-red colour with tawny tints and a touch of black. Smells as it looks: tired and lacking freshness and vibrancy. Raisiny overripe fruit, tending towards porty. Palate is broad and flat, clumsy and fairly tannic, without vitality, life or primary fruit. Can't see a future for this. Not to my taste at all.

Interesting herb and spice notes on the bouquet, the medium- to full-bodied palate has better texture than the ’07 Hickinbotham Syrah, with the tannins still evident but in balance; excellent length. Drink to 2027.
