Deepish red colour with a fleeting trace of purple. The bouquet is very foresty - undergrowth, sousbois - at a far remove from simple pinot fruit. Ashy whole-bunch nuances. The palate is full-flavoured and dry, savoury, with softly drying tannins throughout, extending the finish. The acidity enlivens the palate, which might otherwise be rather big and hefty. A powerful, concentrated wine that should reward some ageing.
