94 Points James Halliday
Destemmed, crushed to open concrete fermenters, extended maceration before pressing in old basket press, matured 36 months in oak (25% new).
A serious adaptation of Rutherglen durif, one that embraces the grape's natural dominance of tannin and fruit power while making it more than approachable now. A tricky winemaking performance if ever there was one. Dark, dense in colour and mood, highlighting the grape's black fruits, plum pudding spices, pepper and earthy side, with a light savouriness. Generous but delivered with sapid, fine tannin elegance. A keeper. Drink to 2032.
