What a charming wine, with its wafting red berry fragrance. Excellent fruit clarity and intensity. The palate is clean, bright and poised with excellent cranberry and redcurrant flavours plus a thread of sophisticated spice. Medium-bodied with good palate tension. Love this

Deep dark purple hue; wafts of exotic spices mingling with black plums and unobtrusive charry oak, more a seasoning than anything else. Full-bodied, rich with ribbons of velvety tannins. Impressive. Drink to 2030.

Trophy & 97 Points Decanter World Wine Awards 2020. Anderson Hill O Series 2018 Shiraz has taken out the ‘Best In Show’ at the world’s largest and most influential wine competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards! Now in its 17th year, the Decanter World Wine Awards took place over 28 constitutive days in August at the Decanter offices in London. The judging panel was comprised of 116 expert wine judges, including 37 Masters of Wine and 9 Master Sommeliers, who tasted and evaluated 16,518 wines from 56 countries. The ‘Best in Show’ is the ultimate accolade at the Decanter World Wine Awards. Only 0.3% of all wines entered, were awarded the highly sought-after accolade of ‘Best in Show’, and 6 of these were won by Australia. Anderson Hill is situated in Lenswood, at an altitude of 1942 feet above sea level. Planted in 1994 by Ben Anderson, the vineyard is family owned and is one of the coolest and highest sites in South Australia. Winemakers, Ben Anderson and Turon White have had many years of experience crafting elegant wines that capture the unique characteristics of this vineyard. “Most keen drinkers now realise that Australia can produce a gamut of Chardonnay styles, but somehow the word seems harder to get out about Shiraz. This wine from Adelaide Hills should do the trick for anyone who has yet to realise that cool-climate accounts of the variety can be every bit as compelling as their warm-climate counterparts. The wine is dark in colour, with lots of episcopal purple; the aromas are bright, lifted and billowing, not just cherry-fresh but with some billowing cherry blossom in there too. In the mouth, the wine is deep, round, poised and lively: an explosion of vivid fruits with a peppery finish.” – Trophy & 97 Points Decanter DWWA 2020

“We’re thrilled that our 2018 O Series has triumphed...and it’s only our
second vintage! We’re a true family owned winery. My wife and I run the
business with our winemaker Turon White and only a very small team, and
we’ve worked really hard to create the business we have, so I couldn’t be
more proud”, says Anderson Hill owner Ben Anderson
The Anderson Hill vineyard is located 600 metres above sea-level, making it
one of the highest and coolest vineyards in South Australia. All vines are
hand-pruned and hand-picked to ensure the premium quality of the fruit.
Traditional winemaking methods and minimal intervention are used to
produce Anderson Hill’s high-end range of cool climate wines, including
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sparkling Whites, Pinot Noir, Rosé and
Shiraz.

“Winning this award is a thrilling reward that comes after a very difficult
year for the us, having been hit hard by the December 2019 bushfire that
damaged 40% of our vineyard, and many of our 2019 barrels. Winning the
DWWA Best of Show has really helped us to see the silver lining on the other
side. It’s incredible that 3 Best Shiraz in the world are from SA!”, says
Anderson Hill owner Ben Anderson.
