Huon Hooke
Very deep, brooding purple/red colour, with a restrained but fresh and distinctly Bordeaux-family bouquet, with blackberry, blueberry and other dark berries evident, oak nigh invisible, and no leafiness. There's a talcy, almost lavender-like high note. It's very full-bodied and firmly structured, the tannins very assertive but also rounded and supple and evenly distributed around the mouth, providing serious structure, texture and contributing to formidable length. Great power and balance. An outstanding wine that will richly reward long-term cellaring.

A vibrant dark purple colour and the most approachable in the range this vintage, yet as always, this is something else. Such a unique offering to the world of wine. A core of bright fruit, laced with spice, a squeeze of blood orange and wafts of ironstone and warm earth. The flavours play off a medium-bodied palate with furry, grainy tannins, and great persistence. A star of the vintage, but each to their own – it's hard to pick a favourite. Drink to 2035.
