Light-mid yellow colour, medium-bright, the bouquet has extravagant grapefruit aromas with creamy, oatmeal and cashewnut nuances, and some spicy oak. A richer style of chardonnay with a hint of pineapple and a little tannin grip through the palate and finish. A generous and complex chardonnay of real character and charm, in the zone right now.

The inaugural release, a barrel selection, and all up aged in 30% new French oak with the wines made at Gaffy’s winery, Principia from fruit sourced mostly off Rivendell vineyard. There’s plenty of flavour via winemaking inputs, but everything's reined in, resulting in a lipsmacking chardy, thank you very much. White peach, citrus, creamy lees and spicy oak flesh out the palate. There’s a core of sweet fruit yet it stays in the savoury spectrum overall and fine acidity leads this to a long finish. Very, very satisfying Gaffy & Neal. Drink to 2031.
