Huon Hooke
Dense, dark, saturated colour with a tint of black; sweet/jammy aromas emerge first, the viognier is showing. The wine is very grippy and rustic on the palate with massive, slightly coarse tannins and a drying, ironstone grip. Sooty/graphite notes. It's very robust and lacks a bit of grace, but there's no doubting its impact. (No new oak. Shiraz fermented on wet viognier skins of the RunRig viognier component)
