95 Points James Halliday
Shiraz from the 1896-planted Magnolia block in Vine Vale that shows serious power and heft. Deep magenta crimson in the glass with characters of macerated blood plum, blackberry and black cherry fruits with underlying hints of exotic spice, amaro herbs, licorice, dried citrus, brandied fruits, dark chocolate and earth. Less of a floral overtone here and an increased graphite-like depth to the proceedings with compact sandy tannins and a black wave of intense fruit on the finish. Drink to 2040.
