Huon Hooke
Full golden-yellow colour suggesting some development, while the bouquet is developing some toastiness which overlies peachy stone-fruit nuances, the palate soft and rounded, ample and slightly abrupt on the aftertaste. A full-bodied, rounded, buxom style which is ready now and would go well with poultry. (Fermented on skins 5 days, then finished in seasoned oak)

A ‘brace’ is a bonded pair of ducks. It seemed logical that’s what we should call a wine marrying these two exciting white varieties, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. This wine was most certainly an experiment, albeit one we were confident something incredible might just occur. ‘Skin Contact’ does not mean orange wine. This wine looks just like a white wine, light in colour, however its texture has greater depth.
The grapes were destemmed into three small fermenters where they began their fermentation journey. Fermented at 12°C to allow slow extraction, we then pressed the grapes approximately 70% of the way through fermentation and allowed to complete in seasoned French oak barrels. The wine was then matured for 11 months on full yeast lees prior to bottling.
Straw yellow in colour (not dark as might be presumed through skin contact). Aromas of peach, pear, orange blossom and elderflower. The flavours are exquisitely integrated, with white bean, golden apple pie, sherbert/fairy floss, honeycomb and cashew. The ‘skin contact’ has extracted creamy soft tannins that carry this wine across the entire palate, driving to an incredibly long finish. This wine will compliment so many food categories….absolutely delicious! 13.6% Vol. Fantastic to drink young, and until who knows when…2040?.. depending on your cellaring conditions.
