The colour is more developed relative to the few vintages preceding, with distinct tawny tints. The bouquet is earthy and shows a hint of oxidation - which would tally with the colour. The palate is in keeping with these impressions, being very dry and tannic, the fruit having been slightly knocked out of it by oxygen, I suspect. Possibly a poor cork? Still, a drinkable wine.

Medium red-purple; the bouquet is quite fragrant, with cassis berry fruit, a touch of mint and subtle oak. The palate offers nicely ripened black and redcurrant fruit, neatly handled oak, and soft tannins. Not a '96 but a useful wine nonetheless. Drink to 2017.
