Ranked #12 of 15 1993 Shiraz from Clare Valley
Very mature brick-red to tawny colour, and the bouquet is chaffy, vegetal and tired, slightly oxidised, with traces of 'dead fruit'. The palate is soft and mellow and fully mature, perhaps a bit too mature now. Some overripeness. 1993 vintage character.
Drink: 2015 to 2015
95 Points James Halliday
Dense red-purple; a rich, spicy, concentrated bouquet with hints of Rhône-like licorice and lots of American oak. The palate is powerful, concentrated, rich and ripe, with stacks of blackberry and licorice fruit offset by a touch of attractive bitter chocolate; there is oak aplenty, but the fruit swallows it up. Drink to 2013.
