A more developed colour than the '96 or '95. Deep red, with a faint tinge of brick. The nose is a bit plain, but perfectly okay. Firm, tight, quite well-balanced and elegant palate, but lacks the complexity of the best vintages. Bright, red fruit and faint mint flavours, frisky and vital, with noticeable acidity contributing to the firmness. 22% Eden Valley.
