For a so-called lightweight vintage, there is nothing wimpish about this wine. The 1997 Rockford Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby/purple color, a sweet nose of creme de cassis, medium to full body, not quite the structure, density, or volume of the 1998, but beautifully sweet fruit, excellent length, and tremendous balance and overall harmony. It can be drunk now, even though it is still very young and grapy, or cellared for up to 15 more years.

The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon is supple-textured with medium body, excellent cedary, tobacco, and black currant notes, silky tannin, low acidity, and a finish that caresses the palate. It should be drunk sooner rather than later ... over the next 5-6 years.
