Ranked #13 of 16 1997 Shiraz from Coonawarra
Deepish red colour, brick-red edge. Sweeter, slightly raisiny aromas, a lick of aniseed. Savoury, earthy and rather rustic in its tannins. Coarser textured wine. Modest finish and length.
Drink: 2013 to 2018
88 Points James Halliday
Good medium to full red-purple; the bouquet is inevitably less concentrated than the '96, with cherry and hints of sweet shoe leather. A nice wine in the mouth, with attractive berry flavours together with hints of mint and leather; fine tannins; gives the impression it will develop quite quickly over the next five years. Drink to 2007.
