Ranked #7 of 15 1996 Shiraz from Barossa Valley
Deep red colour; little brick-red. Very earthy, savoury bouquet with mint and star anise high notes. Very big and rich, super-ripe and fairly high alcohol, the palate almost a bit over-the-top, relative to Turkey Flat style. A massive wine with lots of oak and alcohol, tannic and gutsy. Long term. A powerhouse.

90 Points Robert Parker
The 1996 Shiraz is outstanding. It boasts a saturated opaque purple color, and a classic blackberry/cassis nose with nicely-integrated toasty oak. The wine is rich and full-bodied with moderate tannin, a sweet mid-core, and a layered, chewy finish. Accessible now, it promises to last a decade or more. It possesses a moderate 14.9% alcohol.
