90 Points Robert Parker

The 2002 Shiraz Hanna’s Swing offers up aromas of Provencal herbs, black fruits, earth, pepper, and spice box as well as outstanding ripeness, admirable body, and a full-throttle, fleshy style meant for consumption over the next 4-5 years.

Natasha Mooney was the winemaker behind Barossa Valley Estate’s E&E Black Pepper Shiraz 1999, which received the highest score of any Australian wine in the US Wine Spectator publication.

Now Natasha has her own winery, Fox Gordon, specialising in top quality single variety Barossa reds.
Hannah’s Swing Shiraz 2002, named after her daughter, was one of three wines that formed part of the label’s inaugural limited release. This wine is made from some of the oldest Shiraz vines in the world, varying from 20 to 80 years old. "Old vines need to be hand-tended," says Natasha. Particular attention is paid to soil moisture and vine stress management. The prevailing philosophy is one of low input and low yields to give maximum flavour and preserve the inherent qualities of fruit and site.

Like the stellar E&E Black Pepper Shiraz, Hannah's Swing Shiraz 2002 is a fruit-forward wine superbly balanced with sweet vanillin oak. It is deceptively elegant, despite its richness and power.
