Ranked #28 of 56 2004 Shiraz from McLaren Vale
Deep colour and a strongly sump oil, creosote oak or fruit bouquet with some age. Dark chocolate, too. A big blockbuster, full-bodied and somewhat oak aggressive on palate. Licorice and crushed ants. Very traditional Blass style, but not exactly elegant.
Drink: 2014 to 2029
95 Points James Halliday
Deep, dense colour; archetypal McLaren Vale, bursting with blackberry and bitter chocolate fruit, but with lower alcohol and classy oak handling giving a great result for a great vintage. Drink to 2019.
