Ranked #6 of 34 1998 Shiraz from Pyrenees
Deep, dark red, youthful tint. Savoury, meaty and earthy bouquet with some animal touches. Very good density and flesh in mouth: excellent grip and tannin structure is very persuasive, perhaps a bit too tannic, but would be great with protein food. Gutsy wine, powerful and will live long.
Drink: 2011 to 2025
93 Points James Halliday
Medium to full red-purple; the very rich bouquet has masses of ripe blood plum and pronounced spice, together with hints of vanilla. Sweet fruit carries right through from the start to the very finish of the complex flavour and structure of the palate. Drink to 2013.
