Ranked #5 of 44 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot from Coonawarra
Deepish red to brick-red with purple tints. Pronounced red fruit aromas, raspberry, cherry, also blackberry and cassis. Some dusty, peppery high notes. Soft, gentle, mellowing palate with powdery tannin throughout. Plenty of vanilla and a hint of dark chocolate with attendant bitterness on the aftertaste. Smart wine. Now to 12-15 years.
Drink: 2011 to 2026
94 Points James Halliday
In the tradition of Petaluma Coonawarra, relies on stealth rather than outright power; will stand the test of time, but will never scale the ultimate heights. Drink to 2019.

Has good depth of flavour, with some black olive notes, but the oak dominates now; seriously structured, with ample fine-grained tannins; needs time to integrate. Drink to 2018.
