        Huon Hooke
Savoury old wine; leanish and seems to lack a little fruit, not very intense or fresh. Pretty old now. Nose is good: this has character and is very Grange-like. Liked it better and better as it sat. A bit stolid: not a fine or elegant wine.

              94 Points Robert Parker
The least impressive, but still a very great wine, is the dark garnet-hued 1980. Still a young wine at age 29, it exhibits massive earthy, meaty, bacon fat notes intermixed with notions of scorched earth, blackberries, currants, pepper, and spice. Full and rich with slightly rustic tannins, it has a good 20 years of life ahead of it.
