Deep red colour with a brick-red edge. The bouquet is slightly animal, mellow and complex with aged character, the palate rather savoury and drying, the tannins tending to take over and the drying sensation possibly has brett involved with that. Fusty, undergowth, cabernet effects are noticeable. The oaky Octavius style is very evident. (15% Coonawarra cabernet)
Drink: 2016 to 2016
93 Points James Halliday
Dense red-purple; ultra-concentrated, fragrant, sumptuous dark fruits are surrounded by lashings of oak on the bouquet; the palate confirms what the nose tells you, namely, that they simply don't come any bigger or richer than this. The ultimate block-buster. Drink to 2025.
