        Deep purple red. Dusty oaky earthy nose, non-fruity. Chocolate and berry conserve too. Sweet, very-ripe fruit, blackberry and plum, but a slightly hollow middle, high acid shooting an arrow though it. A touch oak-dominant, too. Disappointing, but thousands will disagree with me...

              Deep garnet, the 2006 Amon-Ra opens with a really earthy, meaty and gamey nose scented of slightly burnt toast, tar, licorice and after a few minutes a little menthol. Full and rich, the palate has dried mulberries and spice flavors alongside very crisp acid, medium levels of chewy tannins before finishing long. Drink it now until 2020+.

              Impenetrable colour; a full-bodied palate, stacked to the gills with layer-upon-layer of blackberry, prune, licorice and plum fruit, yet the tannin and oak are not overdone, nor is the alcohol. Oh for a screwcap. Drink to 2021.
