Ranked #1 of 38 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River

Huon Hooke
""Colin"". Deep red with tints of both brick and purple, the bouquet very aromatic and fragrant, raspberries, with green olive and tomato bush or tamarillo notes, the palate medium-bodied and fresh, red fruits rather than black, with terrific life and vivacity. Lovely wine and shows another side of Margaret River cabernet. (4% malbec, 1% cabernet franc)

With a deep garnet color, the 2005 ‘Colin’ Cabernet Sauvignon has earthy, meaty, gamey aromas with spice box and some slowly evolving dried plum, warm cassis and dried mint notes. Crisp, elegant and medium bodied with a medium level of chewy tannins, it has a long, earthy finished. Beginning to drink now, it should continue to give pleasure to 2018+.

96 Points James Halliday
A classic example of cabernet with leafy notes sitting gracefully on top of cassis and a little black olive complexity; rich yet fine on the palate, with plenty of fine-grained tannins; oak dominates now, but will offer real pleasure with time. Drink to 2020.
