94 Points Robert Parker
The vineyards for the Maurice O’Shea Shiraz surround the winery and were planted in the 1880s and 1921. The 1921 section, called The Old Paddock Vineyard, was planted by Maurice O’Shea. This wine is not produced every year and when it is deemed worthy to be released only 500-1500 cases are made. The 2006 Maurice O’Shea Shiraz reveals a very deep garnet purple color and gives beautifully perfumed, violet aromas with a core of dark fruits, kirsch, dried plums, black olive, tobacco leaf, tree bark and star anise. Medium-full body, medium-high acid and medium to firm, fine grained tannins on palate. Very long and layered in the finish. Drink 2015 to 2025.
