Rich medium deep red, slight purple. Mellow forward developed nose, bacon-fat, earth and dust, some licorice and raisin too. Tannic and grainy textured, nothing subtle about this. Chewy, chunky, massive, dense and tannic. No pretence to balance or elegance. Very essency, jammy, espresso coffee, chocolate - thick on the palate. Not my style, but has a certain luxuriousness about it. The sweetness of fruit would win over a lot of drinkers. At least it doesn't taste too alcoholic, even if it is!
