89 Points Robert Parker
The NV (2006) Brut Cuvee Volupte shows plenty of wiriness and focus from the Chardonnay, which is the principal variety. The Volupte is predominantly aged in oak (94%), which also comes through in the wine’s rich personality. Citrus, flowers, spices and minerals are some of the notes that are layered into the finish. There is good energy in the glass, but there is something about the approach to cooperage and the low dosage of 2 grams per liter that renders the wine not totally convincing. Volupte is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. This is the first vintage that will show the year on the label. Disgorged September 3, 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014.
