Ranked #3 of 15 1993 Shiraz from Barossa Valley
Deep red colour with a brick-red edge and a very chocolaty nose, the palate dense and fleshy, rich and concentrated, powerful and nicely mellowed with good complexity. The tannins are still quite grippy, although it doesn't taste too oaky. Cocoa powder. Needs food! Very good, though. (70% Eden Valley)
Drink: 2016 to 2016
94 Points James Halliday
Medium to full red-purple; a complex, concentrated bouquet with abundant dark, plummy fruit aromas, and surprisingly restrained oak. Plum, dark berry and dark chocolate flavours on the fore and mid-palate are then supported by persistent tannins and generous vanillin oak. Retasted October 1997 with near identical notes. Deliciously, voluptuously ripe with creamy vanilla oak and soft tannins. Drink to 2010.
