86 Points Robert Parker

Medium to deep brown colored with a hint of brick, the 1984 Hill of Grace shows some cloudiness in the glass. With quite a funky nose revealing notes of old chesterfields, tobacco and incense, it is medium-bodied, but a little tough and tart with somewhat astringent tannins. It has peaked.

89 Points Hooke

Exceptional vintage. Medium deepish red/brick-red colour. Minty, raspberry fruit and charcuterie bouquet, youthful and surprisingly primary. A touch of Brett, which doesn't spoilt it. A hint of smoky ashtray - a guaiacol note. The palate is pleasant and intense, although a touch astringent, acidic, and the tannins are not as fine or soft as the better wines. Possibly a 4EP effect. I like it all the same. Drink 2013 - 2013.
