Huon Hooke
Medium dark red purple. Much better colour than most pinots. Shy subdued nose, but seems clean and sound. Palate is brawny and tannic, lots of grip and extract. Some chewiness. Slightly thick, grippy, stolid wine, but could reward cellaring. Seems unready. Good fruit concentration apparent under all that tannin. A bold ballsy style.
