Ranked #3 of 17 2010 Shiraz from Hilltops

Huon Hooke
Medium to deep red-purple; lovely deep spicy aromas with crushed black pepper, as well as riper richer dark plum and dark cherry fruit aromas. Medium-bodied and nicely full in mouth, with some plumpness. It's a more complete wine than the other 2010 Clonakilla shirazes. Has a degree of richness and weight that the others lack. Excellent shiraz.

94 Points James Halliday
Full red-purple, not star-bright; the bouquet is complex, with warm spices threaded through dark cherry and blackberry fruit, the medium- to full-bodied palate with ripe fruit complemented by firm tannins and quality oak. Picked just before heavy rain. Drink to 2024.

Medium to deep garnet-purple-colored, the 2010 Hilltops Shiraz offers pronounced aromas of black cherry compote, eucalyptus and warm blackberries with hints of smoky bacon and violets. Medium-bodied and generously fruited in the mouth, it has a medium level of velvety tannins and lively acid, finishing long and spicy. Drinking nicely now, it should keep to 2016.
