Huon Hooke
Medium deep red, rather dull blackish tint, not much purple. Stale, rather dull nose, borderline dead-fruit. A bit overripe. Rich, chewy, dense palate with lashings of tannin, quite grippy & drying. Rather grippy and mouth puckering. Generous flavour. Needs time. But I have serious reservations.

Deep, dense colour; just as with the Shiraz, the region speaks loud and clear, but does not pervert the excellent display of varietal fruit with its array of blackcurrant and mulberry (and dark chocolate) fruit; excellent tannins and good oak are further pluses. Drink to 2028.
