Ranked #15 of 46 2009 Shiraz from Broke Fordwich
Deep, bright red/purple colour. Sawn-timber aromas with some nuttiness and coconut, A big, rich, silky smooth wine with some spiciness and also liberal oak. Plenty of new barrels. Some smoky regional character. Medium to full-bodied and smooth in mouth, balanced and long. Lots of grip. Needs time to build more complexity, which will undoubtedly come. Unequivocally oak-driven.
95 Points James Halliday
Medium red-purple, still bright; complex aromas of black fruits, earth and spice lead into a medium-bodied palate, with juicy red and black fruits complemented by controlled oak and fine tannins. Stamps its mark effortlessly, its balance the key to its long-term future. 200 dozen made. Drink to 2029.
