Huon Hooke
Deep purple-red: amazing color for its age. A full-bodied, rather clumsy, plain, chocolate/vanilla style, with some plummy fruit flavour. Not complex. Prune juice. A bit of a bruiser, with loads of fleshy supple mouth-coating tannins which persist. Needs time and hopefully will build some interesting character. All about opulence, not about detail, complexity or fascination.

"Here’s a reminder of why the Barossa is still one of my favourite regions for Shiraz.
Black fruits, dark chocolate, liquorice, brown spices, coal and classy oak (60% new, all French). It’s full bodied , but not heavy or leaden, with plenty of fine grained silky tannins and superb length. Offers that seductive mix of sweet dark fruit, spice and savoury earthy Barossa flavours … and you can drink it now or later. A beautifully made, textbook Barossa Shiraz. Loved it."
