A bright, fresh wine with intensity and tightness, delicacy and restraint, barely venturing out of its shell at this age. Fragrant and delicate with tart acidity. Needs food (fish) if you broach it this young.

The Canberra District had a similar wet and cool growing season to that encountered by much of South Eastern Australia in '11; the floral bouquet has hints of spice and white blossom, giving little warning of the intensity and purity of the lime juice palate that follows, drawn out to an exceptional length by the refreshing acidity. Drink to 2025.

"2012 increasingly looks like a very strong riesling vintage, from various parts of Australia. Clonakilla’s shiraz viognier gets all the attention but its riesling is no slouch.
Excellent intensity. Sweet red apples and cutting, sizzling lime. Dried spice too. Power plus. Textural through the finish. I’d drink it young because that’s my way with Aussie riesling but this will cellar well for a decade or more."
