Developing notes of coffee, allspice and iodine dominate. It's loosely structured, and the fruit is beginning to fade and lose freshness.

A blend of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc matured for 10 months in a combination of new and old French oak barriques, French oak puncheons and stainless steel barrels, the 2010 Parterre gives a good intensity of grassy, herbaceous aromas with nuances of cedar, straw and green apple. Medium bodied with crisp acidity a suggestion of phenolic grip, it fills the mouth with herbal and citrus flavors, finishing long with lingering notes of toasty oak and citrus zest. Drink it now to 2013.

The wine is in fact 87% cabernet sauvignon, the rest petit verdot, malbec, merlot and cabernet franc. It has excellent, bright crimson colour, its high quality evident from the first whiff of the bouquet, and built on by the palate; perfectly ripened blackcurrant fruit is the driver, with tannins and fully integrated, fine French oak bringing up the rear. So perfectly balanced, it will likely be drunk long before its natural best-by date. Drink to 2035.
