Huon Hooke
Medium to full brick-red colour with the merest purple tint. Shy, rather closed aroma at first. Then an earthy, woodsy, savoury bouquet with dried flower and slight 'animal' aspects. The palate is rich, dry and savoury with tannins matching the fruit. Solid structure, deep, concentrated flavour; plenty of weight and grip and also depth. A very attractive but serious, generously proportioned, savoury style of pinot, which needs more time to show its best.
