Ranked #29 of 138 2010 Shiraz from McLaren Vale
Deep purple/red, very bright and fresh colour. Soft chocolate and toasty barrel aromas, smoky, nutty and savoury. The palate is smooth with mellow, powdery tannins. Lots of flesh and softness, density and excellent texture. Very dry finish and very long. Savoury spices, earth and toasty. Not a blockbuster or fruit bomb.
Drink: 2012 to 2035
94 Points James Halliday
Deep, vivid crimson-purple; immediately fills every corner and crevice of the mouth when first tasted, and doesn't back off on subsequent sips; the flavours are bang slap in the middle of the mainstream for McLaren Vale (at its top end) with blackberry, licorice, dark chocolate and oak intertwined with the aid of a cushion of soft, fine tannins. Drink to 2025.
